About IIT JAM:
Joint Admission Test for M.Sc, is an examination conducted all over India. Conducted at different regions in different centres in India, the organizing institute is always Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur who also has the overall responsibility of conducting JAM 2021. The common admission test for M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc. – Ph.D., M.Sc. – Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc. – M.Tech., and other Post – Bachelor Degree Programs is also conducted by the same.
About JAM Exam:
This exam is being held to provide admission to M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech., and other Post- Bachelor’s Degree Programmes at the IITs and Integrated Ph.D. JAM is being conducted in order to be a benchmark to the undergraduate level of science education in the country.
About Rank List:
For every test paper in JAM 2021, an All India Rank will be assigned to every candidate depending on their performance in the test paper. The tie-breaking criterion for awarding ranks to candidates who scored similar marks will be as follows –
Scores in the NAT section followed by the scores in the MSQ section of the exam will be used to break the tie. The candidate with a higher ratio of positive marks to negative marks will be given a higher rank in the exam incase of a tie. The final tie-breaker is going to be the Date-of-birth of the candidates. If this criterion still fails to break ties, the concerned candidates will be awarded the same rank at the end.
About Merit List:
On March 20th 2021, the results are going to be published on the official website –https://jam.iisc.ac.in.
Every test paper, a merit list will be prepared based on the All India Rank (AIR) of JAM. The no. of candidates included in the Merit List of the results will depend on the total number of seats available in each category (OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD) in every given subject.
The Score Card (indicating the All India Rank(s) and the marks obtained by the candidate who attended the exam) will be available for downloading purposes directly from the JAM 2021 website from March 27, 2021, to July 31, 2021, for qualified candidates.
- Students have to clear the JEE entrance exam of IIT.
- IIT JAM qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the M.Sc programmes in various institutes.
- The candidates can then apply directly to any institution of their choice.
